"How do we help our clients?" - Casian Sala, Managing Director
“Companies still want to buy solutions to problems; they don’t want to buy software” - Bret Taylor of Siera and Open AI.
In an age of GenAI advances and a growing agents’ market, businesses continue to focus on solving problems rather than believing that a particular technology can provide a silver bullet solution.
In the last 12 months, many law firms have contacted us to resolve a problem rather than to request eDiscovery, review, forensic collection, or paralegal services. In most cases, the solution involved multiple departments and software packages. After completing the projects, feedback indicated that our ability to assign one project manager who understood the challenge and brought in all the components needed to deliver the solution was a gamechanger.
In one example, the client provided the Claimant disclosure in the standard eDisclosure format, and the Defendant’s disclosure in a single, combined PDF. Our data management team split the defendant’s PDF into individual documents, recreated the parent-child relationship, and using MicrosoftCopilot, extracted the document dates. We then uploaded both disclosures into our ediscovery platform and sorted the documents chronologically. Our review team was able to quickly identify and remove duplicates, and recreated the index. Last minute instructions included adding witness statement references provided in a separate Excel document and handwritten references to the electronic court bundle. Finally, the parties required six printed copies, which our reprographics department produced within 48 hours.
Within six working days, we transformed a collection of 1,415 documents of various formats and associated issues (missing metadata, missing documents, duplicates, broken family associations, etc.) into a 929 documents compliant eBundle (34% document count reduction).
There are multiple software solutions available to end clients to process data, deduplicate documents or create electronic court bundles. However, all of them rely on the input data to be consistent and standardised. Whenever faced with challenges as described above, the most efficient solution is to rely on an experienced project manager, who will become the single point of contact throughout the entire process. This eliminates the clients’ need to navigate between ediscovery, review, paralegal or printing teams, saving time and ensuring a fast, accurate and cost-efficient compliant bundle. And a paper copy if needed.
